Democrats are clearly on their way to losing what will probably become known as the last real national election in the United States of America.
On Thursday, several Democrats joined with Republicans in the U.S. Senate to condemn the anti-war organization Moveon.org for criticizing Gen. David Petraeus in an advertisement. These new Dinos, including Dianne Feinstein and Jim Webb, sent a chilling message to anti-war advocates: You cannot truthfully protest the Iraq occupation.
The advertisement spoke truth to power. It should be commended, not criticized. Click on the image to the right. What is so "over the top" about the ad? It deals in facts, studies and arguments. It is a powerful intellectual argument that uses a rhetorical play on Petraeus's name to get attention. It is the truth and that is what Republicans and their Democratic lapdogs do not appreciate. These Washington politicians do not like the truth. They have to vote against it lest it take hold in government.
What about all the attacks on Democrats through the years? Can we go back and pass resolutions about the Swift Boat liars? Previously, the Senate Democrats helped Republicans ban habeas corpus in this country. (Read that previous sentence again and please click here.) They refuse to fight the Bush administration even when the president's approval ratings are below 30 percent in many polls. They have done nothing to start troop withdrawals from Iraq. They have done nothing to improve our health care system, which is in a shambles. They have done nothing to improve the country's infrastructure, which is in dire need of repair.
Here are the coward Democratic Senators who voted against the basic concept of free speech in America by condemning Moveon.org: Max Baucus, Evan Bayh, Ben Cardin, Thomas Carper, Bob Casey Jr., Kent Conrad, Byron Dorgan, Dianne Feinstein, Tim Johnson, Amy Klobuchar, Herb Kohl, Mary Landrieu, Patrick Leahy, Blanche Lincoln, Claire McCaskill, Barbara Mikulski, Ben Nelson, Bill Nelson, Mark Pryor, Ken Salazar, John Tester and Jim Webb.
I urge all these politicians to officially change their party affiliation to Republican right now--and, really, what difference would it make in voting?--so real Democrats know where we stand. Let's get rid of these rats on a sinking ship. We will rebuild the party from scratch.
These coward Democrats in the U.S. Senate clearly do not want to distinguish themselves from their Republican colleagues or Imperial President George Bush despite public polling that shows people are sick and tired of the Iraq occupation. Polls also show Americans do not believe a word Bush or his political cronies, such as Petraeus, are saying about Iraq.
